Kane scored more goals because he landed more shots on enemy goalies. Kane landed a team high 260 shots on goal with only 81 missed shots. Last season when he scored just 20 goals, Kane landed 271 shots on goal with 91 missed shots.

Butcher is an AHL prospect nothing more at this time. I don't think teams will be lining out the door to be signing an AHL depth Dman in August. His height are weight are wrong. UofD and Avs have him listed at 5'10 and a 190lbs. And thats being generous. Hes no stud and needs a lot of time if he is going to be an NHL body

Wow! Still playing the too many injuries and bad systems cards. I am pretty sure the Sabres had a losing record with Eichel and Kane in the lineup. Not that it matters much, as every team had to battle injuries throughout the year. Teams with organizational depth can withstand injuries.

Bylsma is no dummy. He played a system to help insulate their weak Defense and thin Forward lineup. Their PP was tops. But scoring outside of the top two lines was almost non existent. The Sabres do not have the horses to play a run and gun game. Blaming injuries and systems does not deal with the fact there is a serious lack of depth.

"When Murray adds 3 legit D this summer it will also fortify the Buffalo offense"??? Where will Murray get these Legit NHL D-men? Trade? You saw last year, EDM gave up Hall to get Larsson. Hall is a top line forward. To get a similar player, the Sabres would need to give up the likes of Reinhart or Nylander +. If you want to sign Shattenkirk, that will cost you 7.5M for 7 years. Where will the money come from? You will need to pay Eichel big bucks in a year.

None of this makes any sense. The rebuild needs a reset. Take a step or two back. Build through the draft. But that ain't going to happen given the sudden success of the Maple Leafs rebuild. Tim Murray will be forced to double down. The problem is Murray can't trade for Duchene or Barrie or Muzzin giving up 4th line centers and or Flawed scoring wingers one year from being a UFA. In the end, it will be the franchise that suffers in the long terms. Sad to see

Don't be so sure. Kane is one of the "passengers" Eichel is talking about. He's all in when playing, but can't be found otherwise.

Maybe in your Blue and Gold fantasy world it does not, but in the real /NHL world it sure does. So does the Johansen / Seth Jones deal. Griffen Reinhart, yes Griffen Reinhart cost EDM a 1st and a 2nd. To get a good young Dman, you have to pay a premium.

Kane for Duchene? How about Gionta for McDavid? Captain for captain, that's fair in Garth's la-la land, right? Let's see if Georges can be dealt for Drew Doughty? Or any second tier player on the Sabres for another's teams superstar? Because all GM's are thinking:"Well, this player is amazing but Buffalo wants him so let's give them that player for way below value and keep our jobs!"
It would take Reinhardt or Nylander plus another prospect and a high draft pick to get Duchene. Who the hell wants Kane? Winnipeg didn't want Kane, you wrote an essay about his horrible personality and now you are getting elite players for him straight up?

Kane for Duchene, Avs have to add a lot though. Probably Kane for Duchy and that 1st overall or Landy (whichever they choose). And both Duchy and Landy are 50% retained.

Anything short is garbage, Kane is like fifty billion times better.

How has Kane grown off the ice? It was just this past off season he found him self in court. Maybe you should wait for him to go through at least one off season before claiming he has grown up.

As for on the ice. He is the same player he has always been. He has a good shot with a good release and can skate. He is a high volume shooter who when he gets hot he can score goals. He still doesn't have to best shot selection, doesn't use his teammates and gets lost in his own end. He has been like this since his draft. In fact he has probably regressed in the passing department. Combine this with his past off ice issues and he gets you nothing on Garth's fantasy list.
